Monica Self, CAAMT, CBT

Monica Errin Self, Owner of Animal Spots,  has a history of “growing up animal”.  Monica expresses gratitude for living with a menagerie of animal friends during her formative years in Grand Rapids, MI.  The Self family provided loving care in a country-like setting for a Shetland pony and billy goat as long time friends raised from babies as well numerous breeds of dogs and baby chickens and ducks turned adults.  There were also rabbits and lambs sprinkled in the group.  Inside animal friends included white mice, guinea pig, and fish.  Monica adds, “My brother had a snake that got loose in the house and was never found!”  In addition to experiencing the profound changes taking place, as babies become adults, Monica also saw first hand the birthing process as she had watched chickens lay eggs.  When Monica saw for the first time a puppy birth she told her mother, “Eros ‘laid’ a puppy.”

When Monica was five years old she visited her grandfather who had a young puppy.  Monica wanted the puppy so much that she "dognapped" her.  The family did not discover the "crime" until several hours later on their drive home.  Wees Wees will always be known as the dog that did not get away.

Monica loves dogs and had an attachment to one that lasted form the time she was 12 years old until she was 28.

Monica graduated for the University of Michigan in 1997 and joined the workforce as an employee in the thriving computer industry.  This employment took her to Chicago, IL and Boulder, CO.

After eight years, Monica decided to “follow her dream” of a passion for animals.  In the past, Monica has been forced to live in apartment that did not allow dogs.  As a result, she missed her animal friends greatly.  This experience along with her compassion for abused and neglected animals was what prompted Monica to change her way of life.

Now, Monica has created an opportunity for her to “make a difference.”  Monica completed a course of study at the Rocky Mountain School of Animal Acupressure Massage, which included a course of study in Animal Communication.

Monica is pleased and excited to offer her skills in enhancing the quality of life for all Animal Friends regardless of species, breed, sex, age or current physical/mental condition. All animals can benefit greatly from Massage.

Monica offers a variety of Massage sessions and also provides Animal Communication.  She looks forward to helping educate and provide this wonderful experience to all.
